CentComm does not understand hugs! (Seriously, I'm surprised she brought this up) :D

Yay, @Centcomm! (the person) You're up and running!

Great page, Cent and Rose! :D

*edit: Also TWC ranking is at 9!
Centcomm 6th Oct 2017, 1:43 AM edit delete reply

up and running sorta.. and YAY! 9th!
Gilrandir 6th Oct 2017, 12:38 AM edit delete reply
Congratulations on getting either a solution or a work-around in place. As committed and dedicated as the creative team has shown themselves to be, I suspect it was approaching near-physical pain to deal with this particular hardware issue 'out-of-the-blue', as it were.

The page is entertaining and aesthetic, as they usually are. Nicely done. It may be that we will get Athena's take on the ethics of Black Angel design and deployment -- that could be interesting.
Centcomm 6th Oct 2017, 1:43 AM edit delete reply

Currently doing a work around.. ill be glad when those fans get here...
Fairportfan 9th Oct 2017, 12:15 AM edit delete reply

But ... we're right here.

Now .. BLOW ! :D

Dolly would scare me, too.

Dolly would scare any sensible person.

Wow, indeed Dolly seems really possessive over Athena...

...and thank you for the great update, Cent =)

Hmmmmm

I would just like to point out for my own amusement that the god-machine AI that can (and has) destroyed cities, nations and slain millions doesn't phase him in the slightest. His wife's old nanny-bot however...
This is a true mensch.
guest 6th Oct 2017, 11:35 AM edit delete reply
for him,,! the god machine was there before he was born,, all ways been there all ways will be,, THE nanny bot on the other hand,, is / was some one he HAD to work around to get to Athena,
he has never seen god machines wrath in person, it just is,, whereas he has prolly seen Dolly's..((" you Hurt MY Athena I will end you,!! " ,, and casually smashes something....))
That one guy 6th Oct 2017, 3:52 PM edit delete reply
I can see the "has always been there" and "I've been a positive part in her plans rather than ever having her in opposition to me" but it's really the offer of a hug for CentComm that makes the contrast really amusing for me.
guest 6th Oct 2017, 10:10 PM edit delete reply
now that you put that it that way ,, the pinky offer of a hug IS amusing..
velvetsanity 6th Oct 2017, 2:10 PM edit delete reply

Scared of Dolly but not Cent...that’s amusing. I’m guessing Dolly never approved of him.

Let’s get another round of donations going, Cent's getting close to a video card upgrade! Then when the fans arrive they can save that card for a backup (since, you know, with the fans not working it may have taken some heat damage).
Oberoten 6th Oct 2017, 6:28 PM edit delete reply

Or possibly a SLI setup if the rest of the computer can handle it? :)
velvetsanity 7th Oct 2017, 12:17 AM edit delete reply

Possibly. Cent did tell me they were looking at an upgrade, though.
megados 7th Oct 2017, 10:14 AM edit delete reply
I'm not sure where this is at, but if there's anyone still on the fence, now might be a good time! ;)
Gilrandir 7th Oct 2017, 12:37 PM edit delete reply
I don't really think it is possible for Athena to have married someone of whom Dolly truly disapproved. (But I could be wrong.)
megados 7th Oct 2017, 8:43 PM edit delete reply
Hypothetical: What if Dolly knows they're having sex, and doesn't approve of Leo, but thinks their getting married is better than not?
Gilrandir 8th Oct 2017, 6:59 AM edit delete reply
I think my point was misunderstood. In my opinion, Athena has such a high regard for Dolly and Dolly's judgement that she would never seriously entertain the notion of marrying a person of whom Dolly did not approve. Even if infatuated during the rebellious stage, if Dolly's intuition generates warnings, I believe Athena's alarm bells would go off and she would veer away.

In this case, it is quite the reverse. It appears that Dolly very much approves of Leo as a person. Leo's concern that Dolly disapproves of him as a sexual partner is (probably) being exaggerated here for comic effect and is partly just the notion that Dolly disapproves of the vulnerability inherent with anyone during that level of intimacy.

Having Dolly disapprove of Athena having sex at all is not the same as disapproving of her partner as a person. I am reasonably confident that Dolly approves of Leo as an individual. If she didn't, I don't think Athena would have married him.
megados 8th Oct 2017, 9:38 AM edit delete reply
Yes, I did misunderstand a little; thanks for clearing it up. As you propose it, it makes sense.

I think I might have been misunderstood also. It may be that I was unclear. I was referring to a comment I had made on an earlier page, that Dolly thought, (and possibly still thinks) that Leo had wooed and stolen Athena away. I think that it may have been surreptitious, such that Dolly was unaware at first, and once she was aware, her disapproval was not so much directed at Leo, but the way things came about. I can imagine that being unaware of some of the actions of her charge would be unsettling for her, hence a source of disapproval, which might be somewhat overlaid on Leo. That was what I referred to as disapproval of Leo.

I could easily be wrong, though.
velvetsanity 8th Oct 2017, 11:03 PM edit delete reply

Maybe Dolly just disapproves of exchanging bodily fluids the old-fashioned way...New Troy's culture *is* rather germophobic...

And, well, it wouldn’t surprise me if Calli was made the same way that she and Fallon made Lynn...the old-fashioned tab a in slot b and repeat until bodily fluids exchange rather messily, noisily, and pleasurably. :D
megados 9th Oct 2017, 8:58 AM edit delete reply
If Dolly disapproves of the old fashioned tab a in slot b pleasure of bodily fluid exchange, it's only because she passed out before she got to know! :D

*edit: In seriousness, though, it makes me think of what might have happened had Dolly been successful. If, as you say, Dolly disapproved of sex itself, and then experienced it first hand, would that have changed her behavior toward Leo? I tend to think it would have. I would guess her "I know what you did" stare would have been replaced by a knowing glance. :D
Sheela 10th Oct 2017, 10:23 AM edit delete reply

I imagine it's more like, if you were to look at your father-in-law whenever the chat-topic turns into sex ? Or anything that has to do with his precious daughter prowess in bed ? Like, when mother asks about when she will see grand-children, and starts offering UNNEEDED sexual advice?

When that happens, the young man will flinch, the father-in-law will scowl, and the mother will carry on obliviously.
And the daughter ... she gets to sit between all of those people!
megados 10th Oct 2017, 8:40 PM edit delete reply
Haha, yeah, that gets awkward fast! :D

Usually, one can relate to Dolly's position on things, but here, it's difficult to speculate, because Dolly occupies a somewhat unique familial position . . . well positions. She has been guardian to several generations. Also, although we joke around about it, I think it is significant that she doesn't have sexual experience, where the father-in-law does. That might affect Dolly's perspective. These things make it awfully hard for me to speculate about her position on it. Add to that the fact I don't know Leo's and Athena's circumstances, and it reduces even further the chance that I can guess right! :D

This is probably the funniest DC update in ages. The punch line is an absolute classic, especially when said to a being the normally instills mortal fear in others.

DLKmusic 6th Oct 2017, 8:21 PM edit delete reply

On one hand I kinda get this, but on the other, I don't! Without Leo, there would be no Calliope, and without Fallon, there would be no Lynn...
Dolly may appear to be cold sometimes, but I'm willing to bet she would go just as far out on a limb for Leo if needed... After all, He's a Taylor.

Point in evidence is A: How Dolly treated Kyle when she first informed him that Lynn might be missing, and B: Helping Kyle with his Bio needs while he was wired in in Nova Roma...

Of course, Divorce is something that you mention at your own risk, but that's a different story, lol...

PS. I'm glad you got something working, Terri! Huzzah!!!!
Sheela 6th Oct 2017, 11:22 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, but Dolly KNOWS what he does with Athena.
It's kinda difficult to explain ... but Dolly KNOWS !

That's really all you need to know. :)
Ebonbolt 7th Oct 2017, 10:57 PM edit delete reply

From what Leo said, it's not his genetics she doesn't approve of, it's the sex. Because, y'know, they could have gone with "lab-assisted procreation" instead, and they aren't even trying to procreate at this point in their lives. Just goes to show, you never grow up in your parents' eyes.

Also, @Sheela: After Dolly's little excursion, she really knows!
DLKmusic 7th Oct 2017, 11:47 PM edit delete reply

@Ebonbolt: Actually, she fell asleep, so I'm guessing she still doesn't know!

Y'know?

(edited because I'm a dufus)

thank you

I specified that effect in the script, and was super fucking jazzed when Cent pulled it off so damn beautifully!

Gotta admit, Centcomm has gotten good at stuff like that. :)
megados 10th Oct 2017, 9:39 AM edit delete reply
Well, since this page is called "Admission", it's a good time to admit it. ;) They're both good at stuff :)

I know, right ?

Tokyo Rose is AMAZING at sabotaging Centcomm's spoilers! :)
