Aahh! That weirded me out, seeing her burn that off Ada's eye! Even if Ada's DAS is off, it doesn't help me any. XD

I'm not entirely surprised that TeeDee is getting along with Kelly. It might be another matter if Kelly was a human, though.

And we get to see why TeeDee is in Search and Rescue .. she has more empathy, than people expect. :)

That's something I like about DataChasers: The characters have a lot of depth.

NEVER trust the news.

First responders spend there days dealing with Horrible situations. Tee-Dee's attitude might be her way of coping.

Um.. Interesting.. The stricture against androids not being TOO human looking is still very much in force then. I had wondered. Does she keep the vox mod? If the law concerns *visual* appearance then she might. Um.. maybe early days yet in android/human equality relations.
megados 31st Oct 2018, 9:36 AM edit delete reply
I don't think she (*still) has a vox mod.

Hi megados, checkout comic 880 last; both pupil and vox mods are implied... You are right, datachasers is by far the deepest, most thoughtful take on android/human society I have come across in a lifetime of reading SF. Long may it run!!!

You're right, she did have. I was speaking to now; her current speech font seems to indicate that it was already changed back. I could see I wasn't clear -fixed! Cheers! :D

Also, yes, DataChasers is unique in it's handling of the subject, and the differences in multiple societies provides a compare and contrast basis which the characters also recognize, discuss and act on.

The arc was long enough that I have forgotten much of it, other then a general sense of what has happened. That is not a criticism. Just an acknowledgement of what has happened. The good news is that it gives me a good reason to reread the archives to refresh the details and to help put what I am reading back into perspective. DC is the longest consistently running story line that I have come across that makes me willing to actually go back and read the archives. It says something about a story that is simply that good that you are wiling to go back and read it time and time again. Kinda like Tolkien for instance.

Stuff that messes with people's eyes always makes me squirm...><

Step 1: Crawl inside.
Step 2: The screws go tight, all around.
Step 3: Cross my heart and hope to die.
Step 4: Stick a needle in your eye.

Don't watch Un Chien Andalou, then.

{It was a real eye - a cow's eye.}

Eye surgery, on a meatbag anyway, is always unnerving. I've had cataract surgery on both eyes and it was a weird feeling. The sudden clarity and focus is astounding. Whoever designed these android's brains was a genius and I'd suppose people like Doc Silver are constantly improving them. It makes Asimov's "Three Laws" seem rather quaint.

poking around in the Tech section and I noticed something I missed before....

I used to live right smack in the middle of and currently am about an hour away from the AIS DMZ

The most military thing about the whole Island is a now closed Airbase my Father-in-law and my Brother were both stationed in...30 years apart so while I can easily see Centcomm's C3 springing up from Colorado Springs and NORAD (or rather it's successor) I wonder what the connection with New Rome would possibly be for a glorified sandbar in the middle of nowhere in a Non-US country that has nothing to do with Rome or even Italy ?

It's a small world but I wouldn't want to paint it...

Then again, New Sparta looks pretty close to Edmonton and I spent several years on a Base a few hours north of there..don't see the Sparta connection but it was pretty rough country in the winter...good thing that only lasted about 11 months.

And I now have an eye procedure I never!!!!!! Want to endure. Shuddering even thinking about it.

Funds on the way, Centcomm. Let me know if you are still short and I'll see what I can do. :)
PaulRein 9th Nov 2018, 4:21 PM edit delete reply
Centcomm, you're really amazing with facial expressions! The subtle changes between the two frames of Ada's face as she shifts from "Happy to go along" to "Ugh! Wierd!" completely changes the "tone" of her voice.

The characters have always had expressive faces but here it really stands out when you can compare the two frames side by side.
