That would be the traditional Path of android duty, but Time always brings change and Life is not always organic...
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 12:14 AM edit delete reply

The main thrust is "not" replacements.. :D
cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 12:20 AM edit delete reply

As in; Why do that tired old dance again when there is so much new and wonderful to achieve!
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 12:23 AM edit delete reply

Indeed , but Ada always had a soft spot for humans .. and TD .. does not. :P
Rashala 12th Sep 2012, 12:21 AM edit delete reply

Yeah they are not replacements. more like.....partners
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 12:23 AM edit delete reply

Yes , exactly..
cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 12:29 AM edit delete reply

In the long run that is going to prove to be an unsupportable limitation.

Who better to explore an essentially limitless galaxy than a race of basically immortal and mentally uninhibited (unlimited) Androids?
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 12:32 AM edit delete reply

heheh - good point cat!
cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 12:41 AM edit delete reply

They could always keep a few humans around to satisfy any 'protect and serve' itch that might linger in their circuits...

Or: Maybe someone might devise a way to combine the meat and the motion (so to speak) and the time will come when being android or human will basically be a fashion statement!
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 12:43 AM edit delete reply

there ya go .. you mean .. like "Dolly" *winks*
cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 12:51 AM edit delete reply

Who, if I recall, is currently attending life classes at a somewhat questionable institute of higher learning out in The Wastelands.
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 12:55 AM edit delete reply

yep although dolly has a LOT of experiance.. :D
cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 1:06 AM edit delete reply

Gotta take those refresher courses to keep your Certificate current!

Thank you for sharing a philosophically juicy brain stimulating new page. You're too kind to an old geezer who's up past bedtime!

So Good Night indeed!

cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 11:22 AM edit delete reply

Gee...
And we were just starting to have fun too!
mushroomisland 12th Sep 2012, 9:53 AM edit delete reply

oh no dont gooo

...she's coming back, right...??
Hornet 12th Sep 2012, 9:56 AM edit delete reply
Hopefully that's just the Ada in TD's head and not the Ada on the Flash stick.
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 1:00 PM edit delete reply

"Hopefully" Ill drink to that.
KarToon12 12th Sep 2012, 12:25 PM edit delete reply

This scene looks so peaceful with all the blue and white colors.
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 1:00 PM edit delete reply

:D im glad that turned out so well :D
Rashala 12th Sep 2012, 6:14 PM edit delete reply

Personally, I see beings like Dolly as well what humanity probally will become. With hope. A melding of Machine and man to the point where...the line between is so blurred as to be non existant. Personally I would not be suprised if Centy Considered using another body like dolly;s to transfer the mental patterns of a human who was on a coma/injured so badly thier body was failing but thier mind was fine to give them a second chance at life
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 6:20 PM edit delete reply

Transfering a human mind is on the "edge" of technology, andriod minds are "standardized in such a way to be compressed and moved .. human minds still have a few "pardon the pun "grey areas"
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 6:25 PM edit delete reply

One more thing on this - right now there are very few diseases or injurys or even birth defects that cant be cured or "cut away" or replaced with bio or cybernetic parts. With New Troy science, they long ago ignored the "should we" for the "can we" and the technology borders on the almost magical. other citys have there own methods - however when it comes to medical science New Troy *is* the standard of care.
Rashala 12th Sep 2012, 6:42 PM edit delete reply

Granted. But As Murphy's law states....The worst possibility if oten toe correct. Ie. There is the -rare- case and incident that might fit that kinda need. And Yeah I iamgine Androids and human minds would nto be identicalish but with dolly you have to admit......they are ALOT closer now.
cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 6:54 PM edit delete reply

And there is the implications of Dr. Silver's recent developments for DATSYS- CORP.
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 6:57 PM edit delete reply

Thats exactly why I said "edge" earlyer :D
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 6:55 PM edit delete reply

They are a lot closer, thats true. however. the thing Dolly has to be careful of is med-scanners. in the hands of a skilled operator , they will determine within a few moments that dolly is a sythetic, from her DNA to her brain there are diffrences. and the "basic" layout of the brain is the same as other andriods. its just more complex to handle the influx of sensory data. even a Model 4-E ( the highest class most andriods go ) still has "missing" input we take for granted. the andriods dont miss it they never had it. Dolly "has" those senses. and it already in DC is possable to strip away everything BUT the brain and part of the brain stem and link it to a andriod frame. this is known as a "full conversion cyborg" however the loss of humanity that accompanys that stripping away generally drives people insane.
cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 7:03 PM edit delete reply

A hybrid solution with the disadvantages of both systems and the benefits of neither.
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 7:06 PM edit delete reply

Exactly...
xpacetrue 12th Apr 2014, 12:10 PM edit delete reply

I was really wondering why we haven't seen full conversion cyborgs in DC yet. I mean, this is nearly 2 millenia after the Luna Star story and Galina - while a bleeding edge technology, one-of-a-kind being - seemed to suggest the tech was almost ready then for a full conversion.

But, from what you said, wouldn't it be possible for a full conversion to survive with sanity intact if their brain was placed in a Model 5 body, like Dolly's? I'm surprised that a 4E type body still lacks enough input to always drive humans insane (without exception). At least, shows like Ghost In The Shell and movies like Robocop would have us believe otherwise...
Centcomm 12th Apr 2014, 12:38 PM edit delete reply

New Troy aviods "full conversion" due to Humanity loss and Cyberpsychosis .. a mental condition due to " too much cyberware" However Marcus Ramses is a combat Cyborg but the replacements look exactly like the originals So a lot of Cybernetics simply are "invisable" :D
xpacetrue 12th Apr 2014, 12:24 PM edit delete reply

Oh, I just had a thought! A THEORETICAL SCENARIO:

Dr. Silver gets fatally wounded during this mission to save Lynn, but they managed to cryo-freeze her. And let's say her body is so badly damaged that not even New Troy medicine can save her. (Body got completely crushed by something.) But a sympathetic and grateful Calliope puts her brain in a Model 5. Could Dr. Silver ever get over her intense rivalry with Calli to thank her for saving her one day? (On the one hand, Dr. Silver would go down in history as the first full-converson to survive intact. But on the other, Calli gets the credit for pulling it off!)

Then again: Does NT have the tech to grow a full clone of a human body for medical reasons? Or can nanites work even with damage that extensive?
Centcomm 12th Apr 2014, 12:39 PM edit delete reply

Sadly as stated the human brain can not be replaced. the body can be ..its just not been seen . and doctor silver has her own cyberware NT medical tech is bleeding edge .. there isnt a lot they cant fix .. provided the brain is intact and alive.
cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 7:10 PM edit delete reply

RE: Med-scanners; Good thing Dolly is headed for Nova Roma then. Med-tech there is somewhat in disarray if I recall correctly.*

*(Of course we still haven't met Archpreist Setorius yet.)
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 7:14 PM edit delete reply

Yep and a bit behind the times. another reason Dolly has a better than 95% chance to "pass" as human. she already has the "excuse" of having cyber mods to explain any low EM emmissons or anomolys on basic scanners. people commonly add or "upgrade" to cyberwear for a lot of reasons. from fashion to injury
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 7:15 PM edit delete reply

The "wonderful" Archpriest probably wont show his mug for a while yet. :D
cattservant 12th Sep 2012, 7:20 PM edit delete reply

At least we know he has a sense of humor and a thing for Cats!
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2013, 10:25 PM edit delete reply

Which just goes to show he is a WARPED individual. I mean, who would want a human sized CAT? The little ones are ENOUGH trouble. :-D
cattservant 8th Oct 2013, 10:36 PM edit delete reply

They must be hell on the drapes!
Rashala 12th Sep 2012, 8:32 PM edit delete reply

That or he REALLY took teh TV show DArk angel literally and made his own Manticore program with Cat DNA Metahumans
Centcomm 12th Sep 2012, 8:42 PM edit delete reply

I loved that show - :D
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2013, 10:29 PM edit delete reply

The first year was great; however, when they moved its time slot in the second year... It didn't have the same feel. Went from gritty to campy feel to me. And the time slot wasn't good at all. :-7
Mark_L_A 14th May 2015, 4:31 PM edit delete reply

Time # 9 through, and I just noticed that Ada's "speech" isn't Ada's speech. Her words don't match her earlier or later speech bubbles.
