[And on the very day of wednes!]

Dolly better watch out that she doesn't poke the wrong 'bear'!

IF I had 3 central processing units, the alcohol has long since destroyed them.

I'll say this. She shut dog the watchdog twice. You go girl!

Third core....WHy do I suddenly have a Bad feeling.....and...a sudden urge to Throttle a New troy AIS
velvetsanity 29th May 2013, 10:19 AM edit delete reply

Because we both know that the 'uncrowned queen of new troy' is a heartless, manipulative ****?
Rashala 29th May 2013, 10:28 PM edit delete reply

only 4 *s?
velvetsanity 29th May 2013, 10:30 PM edit delete reply

Yes, because the word has 4 letters lol
Marcus Ramesy 30th May 2013, 1:24 AM edit delete reply

heartless.. most defiantly.. manipulative.. absolutely... in the name of security for new try.. bitch.. that would imply that she has emotions.... but as for queen of new troy.... when a computer system as far reaching as CentCom was left to her own devices after the war... and no one was left to make decisions.. she did... and no one stopped her because it was easier to let her make the decisions... cent-com does what she feels is necessary for the good of new troy.. nothing more.. nothing less..
velvetsanity 30th May 2013, 1:44 AM edit delete reply

"uncrowned queen of New Troy" is a quote from Aeneas :D
Page 881

That said, what we've seen so far makes one think she's gone skynet in terms of trying to keep absolute control of everything.
Rashala 30th May 2013, 3:04 AM edit delete reply

Mental note...when I write Centcomms predecessor code wise...slip in failsafe self replicating shutdown code. Because If she is ABOVE criticism/censure....well She can easily start devalueing human life in the name of -Logic-

I think she already has. Lynn might be sacrificed by order of CentComm and Dolly is nothing more than a specimen to study when this is over. Veronica gets drafted and threatened with banishment. TeeDee and Ada declared dead. She's running roughshod over anyone she feels she needs to and boy oh boy, she's gonna pay for that later.
Dragonrider 29th May 2013, 8:08 AM edit delete reply

Do Not mess with the third CPU, it overloads the plasma generator and causes a massive bang bang wiping out everything within a reasonable radius.
P.S. I don't think the inhibitor collar will suppress it.
P.P.S. The watchdog doesn't know about it and will be very surprised when it finds out.

My guess is that the third cpu is the doll processor -- the one that is in charge when CentComm is taking direct control and using her the way she uses her standard dolls in the city.

Or else it's the covert one that makes her do secret espionage/sabotage things like plant that little bug in the ship. After all, what she doesn't know she can't be compelled to tell.

In either case, once she's got the chihuahua fully housebroken, it's likely that some sort of hidden backup systems will come online through that processor...and the housebreaking process will start over again. :P

WARNING: I'm going to kick your ass! That was really funny! As for th third CPU I'm guessing its the watchdog's operating system. Go ahead dolly and block it with the collar. That will teach him.

hehe .. you can thank rose for that line :d
Draginbeard 29th May 2013, 9:18 AM edit delete reply

Wow, talk about too many chefs making the soup. Serious brain-jam going on in there!
Centcomm 29th May 2013, 11:35 AM edit delete reply

remember cent saying she had to "cheat" to get a few more mods in there.? :D
KarToon12 29th May 2013, 10:28 AM edit delete reply

Nice job on the lighting in panel three.
Centcomm 29th May 2013, 11:36 AM edit delete reply

thank you .. been trying hard on these :D
Don B. 29th May 2013, 10:37 AM edit delete reply
Three updates in a row. Somebody has been working hard. Dolly is handling this much as I expected but I believe that third CPU is about to stir up trouble.
velvetsanity 29th May 2013, 10:44 AM edit delete reply

If my first guess is right, that won't happen until they get back to New Troy. If it's my second guess, I'm not quite sure I'm ready for the train wreck that will be...
Centcomm 29th May 2013, 11:36 AM edit delete reply

heheh yeah trying to get back to 5 updates a week..

And partly housebroken. Odd kind of pet...

A third secondary processor definitely sound like kludgy outside interference.

Computer architecture like things in even numbers only. Two is good, four is better and eight is best. Computer architecture loves things in multiples of 8. Love it.

Three is very bad. Three speaks of last minute work and sloppiness.

I'm wondering how many of the interference directives are baked into the third chip, or if it is running external firm/software. If it is external to the chip, then they need only to expunge the bad software an CeCi has a free extra processor. If not, then neutralizing it will be trickier.
velvetsanity 30th May 2013, 12:11 AM edit delete reply

I'm thinking that's the doll chip for CentComm to take direct control of her inside of New Troy...she's an Angel, after all, and they're a variant on her dolls
CyberSkull 30th May 2013, 3:07 AM edit delete reply

I don't think this is Centcomm's doing. I do think it is a bypass or filter. The chip is positioned at the base of the brain, so it would be directly tied to the medulla or the spine, giving it direct access to the critical "life" functions and motor functions of CeCi.

I don't think this is Centcomm's doing because of the placement of the chip. There is no reason Centcomm wouldn't engineer a hardware switch in the brain to turn CeCi from independent mode to Centcomm integrated mode. If this chip is an override, then it would probably be used to lock CeCi out of her body turning her into a very rudimentary droid.

The desire to put CPUs in powers of 2 only applies if those processors are generically, such as symmetric multiprocessing. When each CPU has a distinct task, having an odd number, even a multi-digit prime number, would not present more challenge than if one added one or more processors to make it even or take it to the next power of two.

For example, in a car, if you have one CPU controlling the engine, another CPU controlling the (bluetooth-accessible) entertainment system, and a third CPU controlling the GPS? No conflict due to the odd number. And probably a damned sight more secure than a car with one CPU that controlled the engine, the (bluetooth-accessible) entertainment system, and also ran a GPS navigational system.
