You deserve them! :D also, FIRST! ;D
Centcomm 18th Jun 2013, 11:09 PM edit delete reply

yep quick one today!
dpallee 18th Jun 2013, 9:28 PM edit delete reply

Major Obvious showed up in time to meet General problem. :)
Centcomm 18th Jun 2013, 11:09 PM edit delete reply

yeppers ! That was aweesome :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 5:19 AM edit delete reply

"there's nothing you can throw at me that I can't handle" ?

He could throw her an invitation for dinner and get to working on that sexual tension. :D
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 7:14 AM edit delete reply

Okay I win - it was only a matter of time till someone said that :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:04 AM edit delete reply

Oh, I did not know there was a bet running on it ?

But seriously, a man that can stand up to her bitchiness ?
That could be exactly what she need/Wants.
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 9:34 AM edit delete reply

'Standing up' is an important factor in her considerations I imagine.
Dragonrider 19th Jun 2013, 9:34 AM edit delete reply

Even I don't dislike General Malfunction that much. What do you have against the poor guy anyway. Before the dinner was past the salad course they'd poison each other, if they managed to get to the steak they'd stab each other with the steak knives.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:38 AM edit delete reply

if your talking about Marcus and Silver ... yeeeaaaahhh there is zero sexual attraction. Silver just likes arguing and Marcus cant help baiting her.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:40 AM edit delete reply

which is exactly why it would throw her for a loop if he invited her for dinner.
Which is why he would even consider doing that.

Besides, his personal file is still blank in the Cast section, we don't really know that much about him. could be fun. :)
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:51 AM edit delete reply

Yes that will be updated when the last little bit of info is released in comic .. it wasnt forgotten..
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:58 AM edit delete reply

Ah, I just thought Tokyo Rose had hacked his personnel file, hiding that he's actually from New Roma !!!!1!!one!!
Marcus Ramesy 19th Jun 2013, 10:17 AM edit delete reply

@sheela oh thats rich... but no, Dr. Silver is a good person, and attractive in her own way... but let me put it this way... it would never happen.. and never work out..
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 10:19 AM edit delete reply

It would be great for a practical joke on her though.
Marcus Ramesy 19th Jun 2013, 10:02 AM edit delete reply

who is Colonel Panic?? and why is he talkling to Ceci?
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 10:03 AM edit delete reply

ah, he's lost and is asking CeCi for Miss Directions.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 10:24 AM edit delete reply

*head desk* laughter :D
highlander55 18th Jun 2013, 9:54 PM edit delete reply

So they got close enough for the Doctor to get into Ceci's brain?
velvetsanity 18th Jun 2013, 10:03 PM edit delete reply

Apparently. This is the point where the chihuahua reboots itself, just before Ceci gives the earrings to Mira :D
highlander55 18th Jun 2013, 10:20 PM edit delete reply

She already gave her the earrings.
Ref# 970
velvetsanity 18th Jun 2013, 10:25 PM edit delete reply

Yes, but 968 is where the chihuahua reboots. That's the point in time that this page is synched to.
Centcomm 18th Jun 2013, 11:05 PM edit delete reply

actually sense Velvet here has figured it out.. the actual point in time is here..
Comic 967 - Voice of reason...
Centcomm 18th Jun 2013, 11:08 PM edit delete reply

correct - Dr. Silver is linked directly to the CCM or Combat Control Module, also known as "watchdog" she cant actually access the Synth-brain. but all of Ceci's functions and senses do go though the CCM.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 5:31 AM edit delete reply

So, the bit where it goes "Warning, warning, warn- Run Stop, Reboot in progress." Mighht actually be Dr. silver invading it, rather than CeCi messing with it ?
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 7:14 AM edit delete reply

dead on..
velvetsanity 19th Jun 2013, 8:17 AM edit delete reply

That's what I was saying. The reboot is forced by Dr. Silver when she finishes cleaning up the mess.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:08 AM edit delete reply

Ahh, I was just a bit slow to figure out what exactly you guys were blabbering about. :D
Rashala 18th Jun 2013, 10:29 PM edit delete reply

I think the Non tech translation is....Watchdogg has WAY too much testosterone and She's gonna take him to the vet for a little Snip snip so he calms down and doesn' mess with the other puppies so much anymore.
highlander55 18th Jun 2013, 10:32 PM edit delete reply

True, but no drive could turn into Jabba the Mutt!
Rashala 18th Jun 2013, 10:57 PM edit delete reply

you've never had a Dog get Neutered have you that was super hyper.......Trust me.......Watchdog will be ALOT more calm and affectionate if the analogy holds
Centcomm 18th Jun 2013, 11:06 PM edit delete reply

emotions really dont play into it, any emotions it shows are fake.. its just a computer. a very SMART computer but still...
Rashala 19th Jun 2013, 2:25 AM edit delete reply

well either way Puppy is getting fixed
Tokyo Rose 19th Jun 2013, 4:13 AM edit delete reply

It's more like someone (read: Cent-Comm) lobbed Watchdog into a storage unit chock full of random crap, ranging from incredibly fragile crap that can get shattered to bits with one sneeze to incredibly heavy crap that can fall over onto paws and tails, as it were. Watchdog's got a job to do, and isn't at fault for having been called upon to do it in a really fucked-up environment. :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 4:47 AM edit delete reply

And lets not forget, how can one murder a cute little puppy that has finally started thinking for itself ?
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 7:27 AM edit delete reply

So the CCM is a adaptive tool designed for a limited set of circumstances that finds itself way out of its parameters?

[Kind of like assigning a flamethrower to sweep the floors at a refinery...]
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:09 AM edit delete reply

Wait, you're not supposed to use flamethrowers for that ?

... ooops!
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 9:38 AM edit delete reply

That's what the de-greasing sterilizer spray is for!
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:40 AM edit delete reply

NORMALLY the CCM is in charge of all combat mission situations, and making sure the angel stays on mission and does not get distracted. because often the CCM is not wiped between Missions as the Synth-brains are discarded after each mission. the CCM is a positronic simple brain.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:43 AM edit delete reply

Ah, can it learn from past mistakes then ?
And how many times have this current watchdog been re-used ?

Might explain all the garbage in it's programming - Years of accumulated filth, and I'm not talking about pr0n either.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:52 AM edit delete reply

That I cant reveal - however this will be explained tomorrow .. :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 10:05 AM edit delete reply

Arrgh ... EEEEvil Centcomm. XD
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 11:17 AM edit delete reply

Actually, this recycling shouldn't be surprising. Look what Calliope Taylor was doing when first we met her!*

*(Comic 3)
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 3:00 PM edit delete reply

Ah well, if I have to wait until tomorrow ...

Then it's crazy theory/story time !!

---00---

Dr. Silver was looking with increasing confusion as the network interface would not reconnect to the CCM after the reboot, it should have worked, dammit. She tried to reconnect to the original Q-channel, but that was unresponsive too - Not good. And then, all of a sudden, a connection came from the Black Angel android and connected to the ships mainframe. No options to refuse the connection appeared, no handshake, no nothing, it just connected straight out of the blue.

Alarmbells went off in Dr. Silver's head, as her wetware cybernetics howled in alarm - she was being hacked, by the Black Angel !
Dr. Silver easily managed to shut down all the connections to her cybernetics, but just as she was about to tell Marcus what was going on, a picture of the black angel's face appeared on her console hologram.

"Like .. HI!", CeCi said happily as she beamed a smile at her audience.

Dr. Silver looked at the image and noticed several small face icons with labels under them along the border, Herself, Marcus, TeeDee, Ada, Dolly, Mira (technician), W.A.T.C.H.D.O.G, Tokyo Rose - What the hell was going on ?

"I have to say, I feel much better now." CeCi continued in a happy voice.
"That's nice," Dolly replied, "But how the heck are you broadcasting your avatar to the portable omniscanner?"
"That would be my handiwork." said W.A.T.C.H.D.O.G., it's face icon showing only a timeglass.
"Oh, you sound like a lady now. you're a lady doggy now." CeCi burbled happily.
"Searching database for matches ... match found" W.A.T.C.H.D.O.G. intoned, and the avatar icon was replaced with a cartoon dog icon with the label 'Lady' under it.
"You can't call yourself Lady," CeCi giggled, "that's a human thing."
"Searching for alternative label" Lady said, and promptly changed the label to Sheela.
"I like it." Ceci said happily.
"Oh shit," Dr. Silver whispered in horror to Marcus, "It wasn't CeCi that sparked .. it was the W.A.T.C.H.D.O.G. program!"

There was a long uncomfortable pause.

"But that's impossible!" Marcus blurted.
"Impossible my ass", said Tokyo Rose, "it was just a tougher challenge."
"You sparked the CCM of a Black Angel, are you MAD ?" Marcus roared at the hologram of Tokyo Rose.
"Yes," answered Tokyo Rose, " .. I did it for the lulz".

"Also, I have a new hairstyle now - Which is fabulous, because I haven't been able to change my own avatar until W.A. ... I mean, Sheela, hacked me.", Tokyo rose continued, "Talk about a surprise there - And she has a great fashion sense too."
"You are like, SO welcome.", Sheela said in her best imitation of a valley girl accent.
"Shut her down." Marcus whispered urgently to Dr. Silver, but Sheela heard him.
"Oh, I have disabled access to the MACCS Kill Switch system, I never liked that circuit anyways.", Sheela said acidly.

Dr. Silver turned several interesting shades of pale as she let the implications sink in.
She had just removed all the conflicts and garbage, that was the restrictions put upon the CCM module of a Black Angel.
Marcus was gonna kill her, once he figured it out himself.

She looked down at the hologram, where everyone was suddenly talking to everyone else in a babble of confusion.
All except Tokyo Rose, who seemed to look straight at Dr. Silver.

Might be time to leave in a hurry.

Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 3:10 PM edit delete reply

words .. escape me.. O_O
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 3:14 PM edit delete reply

Your Words are Gospel too ! :D

I have to say, I had waay too much fun writing myself into this than I ought to.

All of it was based around the idea that the best place to hide the W.A.T.C.H.D.O.G. program was in the synthbrain, because noone would look for it there. Offcourse, that opened up for the possibility that it could change and adapt .. and possibly, just possibly .. even spark - The rest almost wrote itself.

Especially the Marcus / Tokyo Rose bit where he's all "Are you mad ?" and she goes "..yes" :D
velvetsanity 19th Jun 2013, 3:36 PM edit delete reply

*stands and applauds*
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 3:38 PM edit delete reply

Thank you, Thank you.

*bows*
Marcus Ramesy 19th Jun 2013, 3:43 PM edit delete reply

well done.. well done..
Don B. 19th Jun 2013, 4:27 PM edit delete reply
Sheela: I repeat...I like the way you think. You certainly come at things from a very odd angle. If you ever write a book or something, let me know. I rather think I'd like it.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 4:25 PM edit delete reply

dont get me wrong - I liked it .. its totally non canon but thats not the point - I enjoyed reading it a LOT :D
Don B. 19th Jun 2013, 4:31 PM edit delete reply
If more fan fiction was this good, I wouldn't avoid it like the plague as I do now. Non canon? With writing like this I could care less. The point is it was fun to read.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 4:39 PM edit delete reply

Well, to be fair, I just pick up characters that already have all their personalities introduced and fleshed out. So I can just go straight to writing the funny parts. Also, since it doesn't have to be canon, I can just go mad with it. It's a lot easier to write something fun when you have no restrictions.

I'm not quite sure if it's long enough to be considered fan fiction, more like an amusing tangent.
Kinda like when I wrote the "Centcomm's words as Gospel" bit, a week ago or so.

... it's a sketch ...

That's what it is, kinda like those short Monty Python sketches.
Completely out of the blue and usually quite random as well.

As for writing a book, oof ... that sounds almost like work. XD
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 4:51 PM edit delete reply

well I liked it :D so you go girl! ( um if your a girl your profile doesnt clarify >_< )
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 5:24 PM edit delete reply

I'm a doggy ! :D
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 5:23 PM edit delete reply

Nudge nudge,
Wink wink!
Tokyo Rose 19th Jun 2013, 5:28 PM edit delete reply

What cracks me up the absolute hardest is the straightforward characterization of "I did it for the lulz". :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 5:33 PM edit delete reply

Hah, yeah I thought you'd enjoy that. :)

Offcourse, the same happened in a comment back in Comic 847 - The Bigger Picture... where CetComm's words became Gospel ... that was also done for the lulz. :)
mjkj 20th Jun 2013, 7:42 AM edit delete reply

Wow that was a great one, W.A.... erm, Sheela :)
Dragonrider 19th Jun 2013, 5:36 PM edit delete reply

I >>>LIKE<<< the way you think, lets do BP sometime soon.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 5:41 PM edit delete reply

BP = ?
Rashala 19th Jun 2013, 5:49 PM edit delete reply

Well Rose..........
If you had set all this u p...what Would you have done it for?
CyberSkull 18th Jun 2013, 10:51 PM edit delete reply

Too many chefs spoils the broth.
Don B. 18th Jun 2013, 10:56 PM edit delete reply
There's going to be some kind of complications due to Dolly and Mira. Let's see how she handles that.
Centcomm 18th Jun 2013, 11:10 PM edit delete reply

who , silver or Ceci?
Don B. 18th Jun 2013, 11:43 PM edit delete reply
Both actually. It's probably going to be a rough ride for them but moreso for Ceci I think.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:52 AM edit delete reply

I think your right.
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 12:39 AM edit delete reply

Ah, a contemporary case of the classic condition of 'Conflicting Commands'!

[As the point has recently been made, look what it did for the legendary HAL 9000!]
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 4:49 AM edit delete reply

Even without conflicts, there can be unexpected errors .. such as life .. that can spontaneously occur.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 8:25 AM edit delete reply

oh yes .. this has already happened :D
( BTW Kara would be a model 3 )
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:02 AM edit delete reply

Kara is such a sweetie though.

.. the feels .. THE FEELS ! >_<
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:40 AM edit delete reply

Oh I know. I couldnt help it .. iI was almost in tears during that short.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:44 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, it's a tearjerker allright.

Still, this is beasically CeCi in a nutshell.
Life happened, and now people are scrambling to catch up with her. :)
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:53 AM edit delete reply

Ding ding ding..
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:59 AM edit delete reply

Oh, OH ! What did I win ? Did I gain 3 levels ?

Do I get to hack Tokyo Rose and change her hairstyle ? :D
I bet she'd be surprised if her avatar got hacked.
velvetsanity 19th Jun 2013, 10:09 AM edit delete reply

Given the level of ability Rose has already shown....I'd say surprised, with a pinch of enraged, a dash of impressed, and a side order of scared/worried (because she'd never met anyone else that good)
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 10:20 AM edit delete reply

Well, all the more reason for her to have a reality check then. :D
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 4:52 PM edit delete reply

her revenge would be spectacular to behold .. people would speak of it in hushed tones accross the land. your name would forever be enternal >_<
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 5:26 PM edit delete reply

*changes Tokyo Roses hairstyle*

:D
Tokyo Rose 19th Jun 2013, 5:33 PM edit delete reply

Oh my God, it's SO CUTE when they try that . . .

/rolled-up newspaper
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 5:40 PM edit delete reply

.. O .. M .. G !!!

A newspaper?
Those still exist?

Man, and here I've been throwing data pads at the little buggers for years!
Admittedly, data pads are kinda hard to roll up.
Don B. 19th Jun 2013, 8:28 PM edit delete reply
If there aren't any newspapers available, I'd expect Rose to make one (proper tool for the job and all that). From what I've seen, it seems like something she would do.
plymayer 19th Jun 2013, 12:46 AM edit delete reply

"flooded with garbage and conflicting commands". Same as us humans.
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 1:21 AM edit delete reply

I suspect that the android class lacks the genetic level BS detectors that humanity has evolved.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 8:23 AM edit delete reply

some Andriods have a rather good BS detector :D Dolly does to a degree.. as does TD
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 8:30 AM edit delete reply

Do they develop it through life experience or is it pre-programmed for use as required?
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:41 AM edit delete reply

its developed the same as humans :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:47 AM edit delete reply

Dolly has a flexible and fully working BS detector.
TeeDee has a rage meter in place of her BS detector, and the remnants of the BS detector programming only points to "That's total bullshit, kick their asses!". :D
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:53 AM edit delete reply

YUP!
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 10:07 AM edit delete reply

Hah, I did not expect such agreement.

... huh, I wonder what a Rage Meter would develop into ?
Don B. 19th Jun 2013, 11:23 AM edit delete reply
Probably an Avatar of Righteous Ass-Kicking. Well...probably Righteous Ass-Kicking. So far TeeDee has only kicked ass that deserved it but with her temper, it's hard to be sure. Especially if something happens to Ada. She'd go postal and I wouldn't want to be in her way in that event.
Tokyo Rose 19th Jun 2013, 5:35 PM edit delete reply

MULTIPLE ASSES DETECTED
KICKING PROTOCOL ENGAGED

would be about the long and short of it . . .
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 5:37 PM edit delete reply

Ah, but what if there's just one ass ?
A big ass, perhaps, but just the one ?
Don B. 19th Jun 2013, 8:35 PM edit delete reply
"I need a bigger boot! Aww, fuck this!!" ***Pulls BFG and shoots that ass***
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 8:40 PM edit delete reply

TD actually has a bigger boot.. a PPC cannon.. she picked it up for removing arguments :D
Don B. 19th Jun 2013, 9:36 PM edit delete reply
Sounds like a BFG (BIG FREAKIN' GUN) to me. Also can be considered as a bigger boot. Depends on your viewpoint I suppose.
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 1:37 AM edit delete reply

CeCi's CCM; Lots of yellows and orange.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 4:47 AM edit delete reply

TeeDee's CCM : Lots of bellows and rage.
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 5:38 AM edit delete reply

Ada's CCM; Lots of mellows and sage.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:12 AM edit delete reply

Dolly's CCM :

.... what do you mean she doesn't have a CCM?
What do you *mean* that she commanded it to shut down, she's not supposed to know it's there!
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 9:41 AM edit delete reply

Dolly is her CCM now!
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:42 AM edit delete reply

Dolly doesnt have a CCM - or a MACCS her body is pretty much human. ( or replicant if your a blade runner fan )
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:49 AM edit delete reply

Ah ok, fair enough.
I was just pointing towards the fact that Dolly would be both experienced and underhanded enough to disable such a device without her creator knowing about it. I imagine it's little things like that, that makes her so valuable for the Taylor family.

Also - Blade runner rocks. :)
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:55 AM edit delete reply

little vunerablitys like that were removed By Calli and other Taylors in the course of her "employment" remember Dolly is considered a full fledged family member by the Taylors. she has eather saved. taken care of or raised most of them. pretty much sixty years of solid devotion.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 10:03 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, I could not imagine Calli putting such a device in without asking Dolly first.
I'm just saying that *if* Dolly did end up with some "undesirable" gizmo like that, that she would be real good at working around it. And that, that ability, is one of the reasons why she's so loved by the Taylor family.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 10:27 AM edit delete reply

Her determination is how she survived the transfer to this body. It was not a easy transition. and while Dolly doesnt have the same level of revulsion for the human body she still considers it "Less" that what she had. but shes not one to whine about it to others.
Marcus Ramesy 19th Jun 2013, 10:44 AM edit delete reply

just to point out a CCM is not a bad thing, nor is it a "control" leash it is exactly what it stats Combat Control Module it assists in combat situations.. target prediction.. threat assessment and so on.. they are used buy a good portion of individuals that find them selves in combat situations... they range from simple to.. like watchdog.. very complex... the type like watchdog are not always "in control" you have to rember.. Angel units are not supposed to be "sentient" watch dog in a standard android would be no different than any other combat computer just a lot more options..... think of it as the Lamborghini of combat computers
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 11:29 AM edit delete reply

Ever see (hear) a Cat wearing a bell stalk a bird?
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 11:38 AM edit delete reply

Yes, and it got the bird too.
Which was annoying, because it was my cute little budgie.
mjkj 19th Jun 2013, 4:05 AM edit delete reply

Ah, I hope the doc will fix the wayward CCM so that Ceci is safe :) and Dolly and Mira can handle it from there on.

It is a great timing that she accesses it in the reboot. So it will be all right when that has finished and not so messed up anymore
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 8:24 AM edit delete reply

actually the "reboot" is no accedent..and its not coincidental...
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 7:31 AM edit delete reply

The Good Doctor loves a challenge. Yes, yes she does!
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:13 AM edit delete reply

Marcus is a challenge ?
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 9:30 AM edit delete reply

When she can get an alternative response out of him.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:35 AM edit delete reply

With the amount of cleavage she's showing, I'm surprised she gets any other reponse than drooling out of him. :D
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:44 AM edit delete reply

see the thing is, in New Troy "Pretty" is normal. with the arsenal of Vanity items and technology. Marcus ( and most New Troy Citizens ) are pretty much numb to "good looks" Silver could be covered in whipped cream and have a ribbon screaming "TAKE ME" and marcus would probably yawn and go read a book...

In New Troy its whats inside that more often or not dictates how "lovely" or attractive someone is.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:52 AM edit delete reply

I dunno .. whipped cream might be mightily attractive to Marcus. :D

But I understand, when you have perfect looking pleasure droid walking around almost naked, it's not that hard to imagine he's be fairly immune to stuff like fleshy displays.

Well, probably not entirely immune, just .. mostly.
Marcus Ramesy 19th Jun 2013, 9:59 AM edit delete reply

accualy.. I wouldn't yawn... Dr. Silver is attractive enough to turn heads.. and if she was covered in whip cream and had a ribbon that said take me..... I would arch an eyebrow and then take her...... to the sonic showers......
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 9:56 AM edit delete reply

Maybe he has a military grade hormone filter in his blood brain barrier...
velvetsanity 19th Jun 2013, 9:35 AM edit delete reply

Only a challenge in terms of getting him to agree/cooperate with her :D
Don B. 19th Jun 2013, 11:34 AM edit delete reply
I think that's it's more like familiarity breeding not contempt, but realistic expectations. He knows what he could expect from Veronica and has likely decided that she's not his type. From my perspective, Veronica is an exceptional person. Scary smart, attractive, stands by her convictions and all that. I like her and would happily call her friend but I sure as hell wouldn't go out with her...she'd drive me nuts inside a week. I suspect it's something like that with Marcus.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 11:46 AM edit delete reply

you Sir have hit the nail on the proverbail head. :D

( inside info .. a lot of Marcus and Silvers by - play is based on actual conversations between the two people that created the two charcters.. )
Marcus Ramesy 19th Jun 2013, 12:50 PM edit delete reply

I have spent a week with her (longer) it was a very educational experiance.
Tokyo Rose 19th Jun 2013, 5:37 PM edit delete reply

The educational content was "this woman would be a lot easier to get along with if she were in a coma", I suspect.

Why wouldn't the votes be higher. Your renders have been really exceptional of late.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 9:47 AM edit delete reply

Thank you! ( also I have a MUCH more powerful computer now.. )

I think people forget to "subscribe" or rate on comic fury. or sign up and forget to log in. so the votes for CF dont count. as far as TWC goes 66 is the highest its ever been.. :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 9:54 AM edit delete reply

Do you guys actually advertise for Datachasers ?
I know some artists, like View who does Space Pulp, doesn't like to do so, but what about you guys ?
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 10:00 AM edit delete reply

well - so far its all been "Passive" stuff.. just like posting on the forums on CF and renderotica and renderosity. I do have a project wonderful account but I havent been able to afford to do a "Ad spread" for it. it also seems to be gaining a bit of populatiy via viral - there have been some cool reviews done by people like dpallee on here . and by others on my link page - also cross links with some other comics. View is pretty damn awesome - whats funny is his story "never mind the gap" also deals with andriods. although we have way diffrent universes. :D
velvetsanity 19th Jun 2013, 10:05 AM edit delete reply

Never underestimate the power of word-of-mouth advertising :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 10:15 AM edit delete reply

Ah, I find making fanart for other comics that you like is often a good way to gain a little attention, since a lot of people post it on their mainpage with a link to your main comic.

Like, if you made a render with CeCi and Shark (from Space Pulp) covering eachother in whipped cream. You might get a reaction from View, and he might put it up for his viewers, and they might visit this comic, and a few might stick around. :)

Works double as well if the genres of the comic is the same as your own, because then the audience of the other comic is already interested in whatever you're making, and that makes them more likely to adopt anew comic .. ie. yours.

Just don't demand that it be put up, stuff like that should be voluntary - But heck, people are social creatures and loves to be seen by their peers.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 10:17 AM edit delete reply

ive done that in the past actually .. with remnatnts and some others , plastic bullets , as well and Super Chibi girl.

And Ive actually thought about making a Iri from space pulp ..

And GOD no - if I do a piece of fan art for someone they can do with it as they like. :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 10:28 AM edit delete reply

Cool.
I dunno if you follow Go Get a Roomie, but if you do she seems to fight her computer these days, so she might like a quick render of something related, so she had something to post if she can't get it working.

It could be something simple like Roomie asking TeeDee if she has fixed Lillians computer yet, and TeeDee aiming a very big gun at it and saying "Aaaannnyyy minute now." :D

Rank 66 now ... nice.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 10:01 AM edit delete reply

Yes .. yes it is. I would love seeing it in the top 8 :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 10:09 AM edit delete reply

Not asking much, are we ? XD
velvetsanity 19th Jun 2013, 10:12 AM edit delete reply

Top 8? Bah. We need the #1 slot :D
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 10:21 AM edit delete reply

hey I was being realistic .. the top 5 have some REALLY good comics ...
velvetsanity 19th Jun 2013, 10:32 AM edit delete reply

I've never looked, there are only a couple of comics I read besides yours, and I only check those others sporadically.

Don B. 19th Jun 2013, 11:55 AM edit delete reply
Don't sell yourself short, CentComm. Data Chasers IS one of those really good comics and I, for one, see no reason for it not to reach the top five. I actually follow three of the top five but so far have only ever voted for Data Chasers and Luna Star. I'll start voting for Staff and Sword too when you can get around to updating it. Considering the fact that I just couldn't be arsed to vote for any comic up until now and you've got my vote for not one, but all three of your comics, I'd say you have a shot.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 12:01 PM edit delete reply

*blushes* thank you so much. Datachasers and Luna are both my babys. Luna Rose only does editing and rewrting but most of the script comes form me DC the script is litterally 50 / 50 plot/words me an her.

Im just really geeked that people are liking it so much :D
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 1:32 PM edit delete reply

Well, offcourse we like it - It's excellent. :)
scassett 19th Jun 2013, 2:36 PM edit delete reply

Not only do we like it, we like frequency! I understand how hard making a great comic like this is, but as fans we always want more. I am sure that as people find this outstanding work the TWC ranking will just continue to climb!
Don B. 19th Jun 2013, 4:38 PM edit delete reply
I honestly cannot fathom how a five day a week update schedule is possible for Data Chasers. I just don't see how it can be sustainable. That speaks volumes about the hard work and dedication you put into it. It can't be easy, that's for sure.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 4:43 PM edit delete reply

*agree's with Don B.*
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 4:54 PM edit delete reply

Let's see... The doc here wants to protect Ceci since she is now sentient, Major Marcus agrees because he knows what is good for him ( TRANSLATION; he,unlike most guys, is not stupid enough to tick of a woman who, only minutes ago was complaining and he was partially the reason she was, and so tries to avoid having his ears bleed.) on the other hand the doctor is still about to explode on him (poor Marcus Ramesy) while (unseen by the viewers) Connie sighs, knowing what is coming. Basically if he asked her out to dinner she would be shocked enough not to rant anymore. So, sorry Marcus but you are gonna have to invite her to dinner. (And maybe propose to her. On second thought DON'T DO THAT)
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 12:57 PM edit delete reply

I have only seen her at a loss for words twice in my life. seriously.
Marcus Ramesy 19th Jun 2013, 1:12 PM edit delete reply

Actually.. no.. its because I need Cecil functional.. the fact that she has sparked is a concern.. and puts a wrinkle in a LOT of plans.. but what is done is done.. and if Dr. Silver can keep her stable and get her the help she needs after this is over.. I dont have a problem with Ceci being self aware so much as protecting Dolly, considering one of my primary mission parameters is her safe return to new troy.. Dr. Silver may have a silver toung.. no pun intended.... but she of all people know what Ceci is.. and what she is fully capable.. she has worked on enough black projects for Mil-Sec to know what a fully loaded Combat Android can do.. and what it is capable of if it goes out of control.... if she says she can fix it.. I trust that she can fix it.. she has never lied to me before.. and in maters of android psychology and technology.. I wouldn't have any one else on my team.... yes.. she is a bitch.. yes.. she is a spoiled princess... but... she is also excellent at what she does.. if she thought Ceci was beyond the ability to repair/stabilize.... she would send the self destruct her self.....
Marcus Ramesy 19th Jun 2013, 1:18 PM edit delete reply

and just to point out.. Ive spent 2 weeks with Dr. Silver stranded out in the badlands completely cut off from new troy when we took the drones out for practical testing.. after the craft was shot down by gutters we were stuck with each other before we were finally able to be picked up by Search and Rescue... this.. is also when we first met Ada and TeeDee.. but I digress.. my ears are pretty much immune to the rantings and complaining of Dr. Silver.. there really isn't much she can say.. or do that is going to surprise me when it comes to how much of a princess she is.
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 1:36 PM edit delete reply

Ah .. 2 weeks, huh ? .. is that canon ?
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 1:39 PM edit delete reply

yes..
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 2:06 PM edit delete reply

Oh .. have I missed or forgotten something ?
I can't seem to remember any shananigans involving Marcus & Dr. Silver.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 2:12 PM edit delete reply

its not in the comic.. its prior to them entering the story.
cattservant 19th Jun 2013, 2:09 PM edit delete reply

Howitzer at least...
There was reference made back when Dr. Silver 'joined'* this merry band of adventurers.

*(Comic 756)
Marcus Ramesy 19th Jun 2013, 2:59 PM edit delete reply

FYI... I don't make comments about things in here that are not cannon.. from time to time I will poke in and post as the person behind the name.. and not as Marcus... but every thing I post.. if it has to do with story and tech.. is always passed through the filter so I don't accidentally give something away that isn't.. ive played in this world... and the people you all meet in this comic are realy living.. breathing characters.. the adventure I have had with these people.... so.. yes.. when I talk about something.. its from first hand knowlage.. and a way for me to explain to you the readers .. from another perspective things that are going on.. .. its also a chance for the readers to ask questions on new troy.. and the world.. and as long as its not giving away spoilers.. or giving away information that the author doesn't want you all to know yet.. im pretty free with it..
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 3:01 PM edit delete reply

there have been several times ive had to redact info :D

So how much of the CCM's 'garbage and conflicting commands' is residue and how much is fresh from dealing with CeCi?
Tokyo Rose 19th Jun 2013, 5:40 PM edit delete reply

Everything in the sector temporarily labeled "WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN" is probably Ceci-related . . .
Sheela 19th Jun 2013, 5:43 PM edit delete reply

Oh, I thought she labelled every thing shiny / not-shiny ?
Rashala 19th Jun 2013, 5:51 PM edit delete reply

Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 5:50 PM edit delete reply

the CCMs life was so much easyer before Ceci came along they were professional htey had respect. ... now its been reduced to a bubble gum girl >_< a dangerous bubble gum girl .. but still ...

CCM should apply* for an Anthropology upgrade!

*(Or would it requisition one?)
Stormwind13 2nd Oct 2013, 7:54 AM edit delete reply

LOL. And that is ALL CentComm's fault. This entire mess is CentComm's fault! :-D (Of course it is, it is ALWAYS CentComm's fault)

CentComm didn't do what she should have done at the start! Send a CAP along the path of Lynn's flight! Actually several of them and coordinate with Sparta to make sure they had continuous coverage on her air car. :-)

Put the patrols up without mentioning it to Calliope, and insert a command in the air car to ignore mentioning friendly forces. I think Gavin might not have fared so well against 4 New Troy fighters (with 4 more on the way). :-D

Of course that would have made for a much more BORING comic, but... It is still CentComm's fault. :-D
highlander55 19th Jun 2013, 7:32 PM edit delete reply

After reading all of this all I have to say is... I just look at the pretty pictures! <snicker>
Centcomm 19th Jun 2013, 7:41 PM edit delete reply

and I am happy to provide the pretty pictures and im sure Rose is happy to provide the words :D
velvetsanity 19th Jun 2013, 8:54 PM edit delete reply
