Even if he is wearing a cup it would still hurt like hell. He just wouldn't have stars flashing before his eyes well- at least not too many anyway.

And who is Aluria looking at- Connie?
Edit- Now I see- Connie is standing in front of her offering her protection. And she noticed.
Centcomm 9th Sep 2013, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

ro be fair Teedee actually struck him to the side of the Jewels she didnt want to cripple him for life. BUT the blow is close enough to cause naseua and pain. even to a hardened vet :D

and yep Aurelia is looking at Connie and shes a bit confused.
Stormwind13 9th Sep 2013, 9:30 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, I'm not sure just how much good Connie would do if TeeDee decided to come back after Goldie again. Still the thought does count for something. Confusion to Goldie, if nothing else. :-D
Sheela 10th Sep 2013, 11:55 AM edit delete reply

Good, she could use a bit of confusing.
Kinda like how Edicts in Luna Star could use a bit confusing.
Makes them both think about things a bit.
jamie59 9th Sep 2013, 9:08 PM edit delete reply

LOL! Ada's favorite part! Hope Marcus is wearing a carbon fiber cup.
Centcomm 9th Sep 2013, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

Oh yes he IS wearing protection :D
Stormwind13 9th Sep 2013, 9:27 PM edit delete reply

Unless said cup is 3 feet thick, it wasn't going to STOP that kind of blow from someone as strong as TeeDee. :-p
Marcus Ramesy 9th Sep 2013, 9:58 PM edit delete reply

it hurt like a motherfucker... the protection only kept my bits and peices from becoming non existant... .. it hurt like a bitch..
Rashala 10th Sep 2013, 3:21 AM edit delete reply

Marcus....MEn all over the planet Silmultaniously Winced when she did that....
Sheela 10th Sep 2013, 11:54 AM edit delete reply

There was a definite disturbance in the force, just then.
Mister Black 10th Sep 2013, 1:20 PM edit delete reply

After a shot like that, Marcus is lucky he's not wearing a carbon fiber kippah. :-D
highlander55 9th Sep 2013, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

Opinion time- Veronica wants Teedee to kick his ass, probably for dragging her into this mission. Ada either still has deep(?) feelings for Marcus and wants to help him or she knows Teedee shouldn't have taken it to this level.
Centcomm 9th Sep 2013, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

to all three.. Yes?
Stormwind13 9th Sep 2013, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

That there is a KILLING offense. TeeDee should die for going there. :-p

Even if it wasn't a DIRECT hit. That is just MEAN.
anarcha 9th Sep 2013, 9:52 PM edit delete reply

'Let them finish playing' = powerful
Sheela 10th Sep 2013, 11:57 AM edit delete reply

Well, to be fair .. when Marcus stops playing, he'll probably start deploying combat drugs and start fighting dirty ... like, shooting the hell out of TeeDee.
Lets hope they keep "playing" fair.
Stormwind13 9th Sep 2013, 10:27 PM edit delete reply

Me thinks that Doctor Silver is ENJOYING watching Marcus get beaten up a little TOO much. I can understand her attitude; however, she needs to remember that Marcus is there to help keep her alive. Letting him get TOO beat up is against her best interest.
Sheela 10th Sep 2013, 11:58 AM edit delete reply

Yes, well, he's a tank type of fighter if I understand it right .. he can probably take a whole lot more.
Centcomm 11th Sep 2013, 11:16 AM edit delete reply

yes - he is the group "Tank" dispite is specialty actually being a sniper.
Sheela 11th Sep 2013, 1:57 PM edit delete reply

They need to get a proper tank then.

Maybe Chodo could be a good tank ?
Speedy 25th Nov 2016, 6:41 PM edit delete reply
Silver might have ulterior motives. If TeeDee destroys his OEM "hard"ware, Silver can give Marcus the latest fusion powered jackhammer. xD

Of course, Ada might not be too thrilled about that. I think she likes the human touch as much as Silver likes the mechanical.

I get the feeling that on some level, Silver is unintentionally making a play for Marcus, if for no other reason than the fact that Ada is making advances at him. She might not want him, but maybe she doesn't want anyone else to want him.
Gilrandir 25th Nov 2016, 7:53 PM edit delete reply
We have been told that the name of Ada's current (latest?) boyfriend is "Kevin", I believe. Not "Marcus". This suggests that Ada's concern is team-related, not boyfriend-related. Dr. Silver's motives are, of course, inscrutable -- and probably mercurial. ^_^
cattservant 9th Sep 2013, 10:37 PM edit delete reply

When you haven't got 'parts',
You have to 'improvise'
To bring tears to their eyes!
mjkj 10th Sep 2013, 2:47 AM edit delete reply

Great update.

Though that move was low - even for TeeDee. She did not need to do that to test her new body and even for revenge that is just mean - she could hit him somewhere else to inflict pain with her superior attack frame.

Great move, Ada. (Somebody brought a gun to a fistfight...)

...and dr. silver is being mean to Ada - *dislike* - *comforts and hugs Ada (being careful of hot weapon, though)*

...I hope dr. silver gets a stray hit or an errant stun shot for that.
Stormwind13 10th Sep 2013, 6:02 AM edit delete reply

Not much chance of that, mjkj, since the good Doctor is hiding behind a shield that would eat that stunner.

You are right though, TOTALLY unnecessary. Now if it was life or death fight, or if he had threatened or acted to rape TeeDee it would have made sense. To do that though in what is now a training exercise, TeeDee was well over the line.
mjkj 10th Sep 2013, 6:43 AM edit delete reply

I agree, Storm.
Sheela 10th Sep 2013, 12:00 PM edit delete reply

I'm quietly confident that TeeDee don't give a damn ... after all, she shot a Centcomm doll in the face, just to get rid of some of her aggression.
Speedy 25th Nov 2016, 6:52 PM edit delete reply
There's a huge difference between destroying a puppet and taking a life, be it human or android.

Even though TeeDee has gone berserk, I don't think she would go that far (except for in actual combat). Maim? Yes. Murder? No. (I hope)
Centcomm 10th Sep 2013, 5:03 PM edit delete reply

yes Teedee is totally out of line. :D
Draginbeard 10th Sep 2013, 2:55 AM edit delete reply

I think we all knew she would take that shot. I view TeeDee as a soldier. Combat training is harsh, but it needs to be. Its all about exploiting weak points, and eliminating a threat as quick and efficiently as possible.

I was a little bit surprised that TeeDee even acknowledges terms like 'Dirty fighting'

Outside a sporting event, there is no fair or unfair. You do what you need to, to get the job done, especially in a world as brutal and bloody as this.
velvetsanity 10th Sep 2013, 5:44 AM edit delete reply

I would have probably taken that shot myself in Teedee's position.
Stormwind13 10th Sep 2013, 6:07 AM edit delete reply

Then you would deserve to be drummed out of your unit, velvet. I mean, that move in a training exercise is beyond what is necessary. If I was Marcus, I would ship her home NOW. She still lacks proper control of what is appropriate level of force in situations is. She is more of a danger to the mission then she is a benefit in that case. I hope they DO ship her home.
mjkj 10th Sep 2013, 6:45 AM edit delete reply

I agree. It totally was unnecessary in this situation - even if TeeDee just aimed to hurt him - there are other ways...
velvetsanity 10th Sep 2013, 9:17 AM edit delete reply

Keep in mind that the purpose behind the entire situation is a therapeutic release of anger and frustration *before* a dangerous situation comes up. It's letting her vent and release some of it so that she can get her head in the game.

Marcus engineered the situation so that he would be a punching bag, and knows Teedee well enough to have probably been expecting it.

One more thing to keep in mind, Stormwind: "Train as you fight". Limit yourself in training, and you create a tendency to limit yourself in the same manner in a *real* fight.
Stormwind13 10th Sep 2013, 4:44 PM edit delete reply

What I wish is that our world had a SQUID like they had in Strange Days and the women out there that think this is in ANY way appropriate could ENDURE a blow like that via said device. If you ever got up from the floor, you wouldn't find it near as FUNNY I guarantee you.

And velvet, you fight like you train is a bullshit answer to that. You know how to throw the punch, kick, elbow or knee blow and no need to target him that way. Not for a non-real fight.

I lost all sorts of respect for TeeDee and for those that think that was in any way appropriate for THIS fight.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2013, 4:58 PM edit delete reply

I can understand Losing respect for her. Marcus knows she tends to have a "win at any cost" Mentallity. and yes she used a "cheap shot" Marcus wasnt expecting it "HOWEVER" she also knows about his DAS module that means that most of what she does is simply shrugged off in a half second. this is the only thing she could think of that would mentally and to a degree slow him down. she didnt aim it to perma injure she knows better. it was aimed to HURT and to disable. TeeDee is still going to be in hot water over this.. so stay tuned and watch what happens :D and dont count Marcus out yet.
velvetsanity 14th Sep 2013, 1:20 PM edit delete reply

Guess what, Stormwind. In the real world, women don't have cybernetically enhanced skeletons and muscles, and this happens to be a highly effective way of disabling an attacker long enough to get to safety.
Also...women give birth on a regular basis. Which do you think hurts worse?
Stormwind13 23rd Sep 2013, 4:42 PM edit delete reply

Depends on the woman, velvet. Some of them have been known to give birth on the street and barely even notice it. Rare, an exception but it has happened.

I'll NEVER know (unless someone does come up with a SQUID) what it feels like to give birth; however, what I do know is that many (not all) women go back and become pregnant again. I don't know of ANY male that wants to go back and have someone kick them in the balls again.

Both can kill a person, though far more women have died than men from giving birth over being kicked in the groin. But the argument has no real merit, men and women deal with pain differently for different kinds of pain.

My sole point was it was unnecessary in the circumstance and TeeDee deserves to be removed from the team because of it. NOTHING you can say will change that opinion.

And I really don't care what YOUR opinion on the subject is, velvet. You've never endured it, so you don't have any way of properly judging it.
Antonious 10th Sep 2013, 5:53 PM edit delete reply

That is so true Velvet. That is why in serious training weapons are "safed" to allow their full force use and safety gear is worn to minimize the chance for serious injury. Injuries are expected. Bruises, small cuts, abrasions and sprains are normal. Torn muscles, dislocations and broken bones are also possible, but most try to avoid taking the sparring to that level as it removes valuable combatants from the roster, weakening defensive and offensive capabilities.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2013, 5:02 PM edit delete reply

someone told me once .. ANYTHING is fair in a barfight. and often is used- this isnt a formal match this is a : I want you on the ground ( not dead ) fight. its all a matter of how far will you go.
xrzer04 10th Sep 2013, 10:38 AM edit delete reply
Joint Lock tecnhiques are your Friends, Marcus.
Sheela 10th Sep 2013, 12:04 PM edit delete reply

Only if he can get a proper grip on her - which I bet she won't let him do.
Centcomm 11th Sep 2013, 11:14 AM edit delete reply

her speed makes that really really hard.
xrzer04 10th Sep 2013, 11:05 AM edit delete reply
Oh, and I appreciated the detailed reply to my comment when this fight started getting good.
I almost always never comment on the probably dozen webcomics I read on a regular basis, because I'm content wo watch the story play out and even watch the various players in the comments sections make themselfves and their points known, rather than needing to tell the world My two cents' worth as well. The exception is when something manages to make me become truly emotionally engaged. Please treat it as a sign of respect that I comment, you have made me feel real emotion (even if it IS irritation) for a fictional charachter. There are stories and charachters I thoroughly enjoy and keep coming back to for Years that never reach so deeply into me that they move me to Say Something. Funny how pissing me off seems to do that quicker than anything else. Maybe it's the red meat.
That Said- Yeah, PTSD is a hard, hard thing, I Know. I've seen people mostly survive all kinds of fucked up shit and come out of it just plain not right ever again. I've Seen it. but I've also seen people Shattered, mind, body, life- just Destroyed... And continue to feel more deeply for and give more of themselves to everyone around them than Anyone around them.
I apply the same rule to myself, please don't doubt it, but that rule is: "Whatever your deal is, Get Over It. Don't make your problem my problem, or we will Have a Problem."
Sheela 10th Sep 2013, 12:06 PM edit delete reply

PTSD is indeed a bitch .. and no doubt about it.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2013, 5:00 PM edit delete reply

not a problem I like giving detailed responces and interacting with the readers. although its gotten me in trouble with rose a few times. ill always try to answer questions unless that answer would spoil something. I know a couple of people with versions of PTSD and they react diffrently. some you have to walk on eggshells around others are more or less "ok"

Im aware that TD isnt anyones favorite right now. and thats actually part of the plot :D
Rashala 10th Sep 2013, 6:43 PM edit delete reply

tedee Not anyone favorite? right now?

Pffft... SPeak for yoeruself Centy. I am ENJOYING watching her work out her problems.....Not so much the groin part but the rest is very enjoyable
Draginbeard 10th Sep 2013, 6:54 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, I can sense some real unrest regarding TeeDee, but to be honest, I have never really cared for her to begin with.

I see TeeDee as purposely unlikeable. I don't know if she was written this way, but as the story goes on, she has definitely shown very few redeeming qualities.

She has always been rude, foul-mouthed, abrasive, and overly-aggressive. Ada is the only person that can reach her, and even she seems to be reaching her limits there.

TeeDee has had one or two moments when I was tempted to feel some empathy for her, but much like a bad person going to church on Sunday asking forgiveness, the moment passes and TeeDee is back to her old hate-filled self.

On top of that, she really does seem to enjoy violence and hurting people.

This may have been just an act before, but this example of combat has revealed a little more of her true nature. She took that shot at Marcus, and enjoyed it. That speaks volumes.

This is my opinion, other readers results may vary.

Centcomm 11th Sep 2013, 11:14 AM edit delete reply

Teedees metallity has been set in stone for a long time. you are mostly correct Draginbeard I wont say much on the subject but not everyone is "likeable" or even sympathetic. TD is the first one to get annoyed with pity or sympatithy it makes her feel weak. and a lot of her actions are defenses. Ada has known her the longest having been paired with her by Centcomm. Cent knows TD is a valued asset .. also not everything thats good, is pleasent or fun. ( PS Ada often gets frustrated with TeeDee as well ) TD and Marcus actually get along the best after Ada. and this isnt there first dance... both of them tend to like "no holds barred" type of enteratinment like G-Ball and G-ball is a glorifyed death-game for andriods and robots. Humans play a lesser variant. but it is still violent and bloody. and often results in injurys.

NOTE - all versions of G-ball have players that FULL well know the risks involved and enjoy them.
JacobJSebastian 10th Sep 2013, 11:05 AM edit delete reply

First, a cup doesn't prevent pain, it only prevents permament damage. Second: really, TD? *sigh*
Centcomm 10th Sep 2013, 5:01 PM edit delete reply

Yup .. she really went there >_<
Dragonrider 10th Sep 2013, 6:51 PM edit delete reply

*sighs* :P:
JustNoPoint 11th Sep 2013, 7:49 AM edit delete reply

I wonder what goes in to fixing those "parts" when they get damaged. And if they are inclined to get upgrades o_O
Centcomm 11th Sep 2013, 11:07 AM edit delete reply

all... the ... time :D upgrades are pretty common amoung humans and andriods :D
xrzer04 12th Sep 2013, 12:42 AM edit delete reply
I get the impression from some little things I've read that this story, or at least the world it is set in started out as an RPG, and the characters we are seeing are representations of actual people who have joined one another in actual adventures and infused their own personalities, strengths, and weaknesses into the creation of this whole.
How accurate is that?
Centcomm 12th Sep 2013, 8:57 AM edit delete reply

actually the comic world started as a collection of ideas - that got made into a comic - THEN i made a RPG world out of it and over the course of a year and a half ( during the comics LOONG ass hitus ) the game was run many things got hashed out and added or discarded. things got hammered out and cleaned up

as for the group that did all that. some of them were such good charcters and fit the world so well they were added to the cast. also some of the other NPCs that were used in the "game world" were added to the comic world.

heres the list of players and chacters-

Dr. Silver - played by Dawn
Marcus played by "Marcus" here on CF
Mister Black who was played by Roses husband.
Kira ( the ranger ) played by Heather
and Pyre ( a mechanic )played by her boyfriend Michel Stell

others included
a hacker-
a wasteland scout
a shotgun toteing combat monkey.

:D soo the game technicly came "second"
